St. Patrick's Day is celebrated to honor the patron saint of Ireland, Saint Patrick (c. 432-461 A.D.).
His mission in Ireland lasted over 30 years and he is credited with bringing the written word to the Irish people.
It's believed he died on March 17, which is why we celebrate on that day.
The first year St. Patrick's Day was celebrated in America was in 1737 in Boston, Massachusetts. And on that day - Everyone Is Irish!
